Campbell's Bits & Spurs |

Campbell's Bits and Spurs got it's start when a young Robert Campbell found himself in need of some new bits, but was a little short on cash. So Robert used the metal working skills he had acquired building steel fence, and made his own. Soon, people started to notice his handmade bits and wanted a set of their own. By 1983, Robert was enjoying making bits and, by this time, spurs, far more than building fence. So, he decided to give up fence building and make the transition to full time silversmith. With his natural talent for metal working and the help of a good friend, Campbell's Bits and Spurs began to grow. In 1990, Robert's son Leo was brought into the business. Together, they have developed a style all their own. Seventeen years later, what stared out as a past time has grown into a legacy. Campbell's products are used world wide by jack's of all trades, from ranch hands to collectors. Robert, like his wife and son, is an exceptional horseman. In 2001 and 2002, Robert was the National Finals Senior Steer Roping Champion, the 2002 Wendy Ryan Memorial Champion, and the 2002 World Champion Senior Steer Roper. So, as you can see, Robert not only creates a quality product, but tests it under the most demanding of circumstances. Through quality, pride, and determination Robert, Margie, and Leo have built Campbell's Bits and Spurs into what it is today. We hope you enjoy using our products as much as we enjoy making and using them ourselves! Over a decade has passed since Leo Campbell stepped out of high school into the real world, unsure about everything except roping, when his father proposed that he come to work with him. This was the beginning of a bountiful parternship. In the beginning it was just a job to pay bills and entry fees, but as time passed, Leo gained an appreciation for the value and work that goes into the creation of a quality handmade product. Robert and Leo are innovators. Always trying to come up with new and original ideas, a Campbell's trademark. Like their Spur Bit, which has grown so popular the likes of George Strait and Roy Cooper have a set of their own. The Campbells started out small, but at last count had been shipped to 38 states as well as 6 foreign countries. Not only does Leo know how to build quality equipment, he knows how to use it. As a career roper in the PRCA, he finished in the top 20 for 1998, 1999 and 2001 and in the top 30 in 2000 (click here for the current PRCA Steer Roping Standings). He finished 7th. in 1998 and 3rd in the 1999 Texas Pro Rodeo Circuit, and in 1999 his horse was named "Horse of the Year" in steer roping for the Texas Circuit. Leo has decided this is what he wants to do when he grows up and he takes great pride in stamping Campbell on every piece that leaves the shop. Working side by side as partners, Robert and Leo continue to build a strong and thriving business. Although his heart belongs to roping, his legacy will always be Campbell's Bits and Spurs.
